Custom Instructions

Tell Journoo how you want it to respond. Custom Instructions let you tune Journoo so it feels just right for you. Set the tone, the length, and what it should focus on or leave alone.

Where to find itCopy Anchor Link

1. Open Settings → Custom Instructions. Or, inside any entry, tap the settings icon at the top right.
2. Type your instructions in the field. The placeholder reads “Personalize the way Journoo responds.”
3. Your changes save as you go and apply from your next reply.

Note: Up to 1,000 characters. A counter under the field shows how much room is left.

What to writeCopy Anchor Link

• Tone: “Keep it warm but direct. Skip the pep talk.”
• Length: “Two or three sentences at most.”
• Personality: “Respond the way [a public figure you admire] would.”
• Focus: “Ask me one follow-up question about work, never about family.”
• Approach: “Challenge my assumptions instead of agreeing with me.”

• Custom Instructions shape Journoo’s replies when you tap Explore in a journal entry.
• They set tone and focus. They cannot switch off Journoo’s safety guardrails.

• Custom Instructions are a Pro feature. On the Free plan the field is greyed out.
• Anything you saved stays in place and turns back on the moment you upgrade.
